Volume 4, Issue 7, November 15, 2009

First, let me please apologize for missing out on the minutes from the last few meetings. I had some health problems, but am back and would hope for your kind forbearance. Following will be the minutes for November.

Our president, Brenda was unable to attend, so V.P. Emily S. brought the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m. with a warm welcome to our first time visitors. Next, she asked us, "What are you working on?" and our membership did not disappoint! There were baby blankets, hoodies, shawls, washcloths, soap sacks, and beautiful works in process.

Executive Reports

Since I have been away, there was no submission of minutes.

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Judy B. reported the Guild's total in the bank is $1,208.97.

Charity Knitting: Linda P. was unable to attend; however, Emily explained the charity knitting projects to the newcomers, and Judy brought the charity yarn for members to use.

New Business

The subject of the Holiday party was discussed. The date for the party was set for December 13, a change in the regular date, since the library will be closed on the regular meeting date. An alternate location was also decided on. The December meeting/holiday party will be held at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 800 South Midwest Boulevard in Midwest City. An email reminder will be sent out. There is a database on the email ring to note what refreshments members plan to bring. We will play 'Dirty Santa'. Gifts should be limited to $10.00 in value and knitting related. Please come and enjoy our great company.

Other new business included a discussion of programs for the 2010 year. Ideas put forth included Fair Isle, Steeks, stitch patterns, among others. A sign up sheet went around for members to volunteer to teach their 'favorite' stitch.

The discussion was followed by an excellent presentation by Joyce of the history of knitting.

The meeting ended at 5:00. Please mark your calendars for our January festivities on December 13, from 3:00 until 5:00 at St. Christophers! See you then!
